Durham County Cares was established in 2011, after a conversion from our previous campaign format to an internal, annual, federated campaign, which is designed to benefit deserving non-profit organizations that serve the Triangle Community.

Durham County Government employees have donated over

$1 million dollars to nonprofit organizations in the Triangle Community,

since the establishment of our charitable giving campaign, and since its inception in 2011, Durham County Cares has received approximately $820,000 in Durham County Employee contributions, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to our recipient organizations.

Every year, Durham County Cares opens up our application process to any and every nonprofit organization that services the Triangle Area (Durham, Wake, Orange, Chatham, Johnston and/or Granville County).

Upon completion of our application process, several recipient organizations are selected under the following categories, in alignment with the Durham County Government Strategic Plan:

COMMUNITY & FAMILY PROSPERITY

HEALTH &WELL-BEING FOR ALL

SAFE & SECURE COMMUNITY

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

MISCELLANEOUS/MULTIPLE AREA SERVICES

Durham County Employees then donate to any and all of the Recipient Organizations for the year, during our 2-4 week campaign, held in the fall of every calendar year.

Below are some past Recipient Organizations who are making a positive difference in our community!
